YouTube FINALLY updated with Gif Featured Animated Images!
[wpsm_dropcap]Y[/wpsm_dropcap]ouTube updated on July 13th, 2017 with .gif animated featured images. This feature is only available in Chrome.
This update should come as no surprise since YouTube announced they would be making the change YEARS ago.
We asked YouTube what the deal was, and they played it coy:
“With more videos coming to YouTube every minute we’re always experimenting with ways to help people more easily find, watch and share the videos that matter most to them,” YouTube said in a statement. “We’ll consider rolling features out more broadly based on feedback on these experiments.”
Now, whenever you scroll over a featured image for a video — you will seen an animation play out. These animations are available for any YouTube creator who is verified. Upload a .gif of your own or have YouTube handle the entire process.
It’s about time, YouTube.
