Facebook Hollywood is making original shows like “Pretty Little Liars”
[wpsm_dropcap]F[/wpsm_dropcap]acebook could launch two dozen ‘TV-like’ original shows. This includes both longer premium and cheaper lower-tire content.
Mark Zuckerberg, co-founder of FaceBook, has been active on their social network by posting videos and doing FaceBook livestreams. Obviously Zuckerberg is interested in putting out content and now this is becoming a possibility for premium-like shows. FaceBook already hired former MTV executive, Mina Lefevre. Lefevre has already worked on shows like Teen Wolf and Scream.
FaceBook wants to create big-budget shows and shorter ones that are easier to create. FaceBook is also interested in kickstarting a similar creation to what YouTube has where creators can upload videos. Van Veen, former co-founder of CollegeHumor, is leading this in his statement,
Earlier this year, we started rolling out the Video tab, a dedicated place for video on Facebook. Our goal is to kickstart an ecosystem of partner content for the tab, so we’re exploring funding some seed video content, including original and licensed scripted, unscripted, and sports content, that takes advantage of mobile and the social interaction unique to Facebook. Our goal is to show people what is possible on the platform and learn as we continue to work with video partners around the world.
Seems like 2017 is the year of original content for all networks, not just Netflix. Livestreaming coming up next.
