Have you ever wanted to be known?  Internet celebrities don’t often describe what it’s like being famous.  Donny Pie, who has become known on several different games, can tell you that being known isn’t always a good thing.  In fact, popularity is just as bad as it is good.

WHO IS DONNY PIE?

Donny Pie, aka Skye Pie, is a developer and content-creator who began playing virtual world games in 2010.  Since then, Donny has dedicated work to FlowPlay by making websites, applications, and radio stations.  Over time, Donny has put up with a constant barrage of internet trolls, haters, and anonymous people who try and harass him.

WHAT ARE SOME EXAMPLES OF HARASSMENT?

Donny has been blackmailed, harassed, and hated for simply engaging in conversations with obsessive attention-seeking people.  Unfortunately, some people use his fame to gain attention for themselves (by any means necessary).  Donny has called the police on several people for calling his phone leaving harassing messages.  Here is an example of one of the conversations he’s had in the past (names are blurred-out for privacy concerns):

HOW OFTEN DOES THIS HAPPEN?

Every 3-4 months, someone tries to start drama somehow.  Donny says all the people he meets are strangers on the internet.  He doesn’t know who they are.  Unfortunately, most these online people take conversations out-of-context to make him seem bad.  It’s an evil thing to do, but it’s not surprising considering what is put out in the media today.

HOW HAS THIS AFFECTED YOU?

People on the internet feel safe being anonymous.  We’ve seen people call others rapists, child molesters, and even murderers with little to no evidence.  Some people may not fully comprehend the serious nature of such allegations; considering there are people who suffer from those things daily.  For awhile, I was afraid to engage in conversations with people online.  These days, I don’t mind it at all.  If I get vibes that a person is hateful or trying to blackmail me; I just remove and block them with little to no warning.

IS THERE ANYTHING GOOD ABOUT BEING KNOWN?

Popularity means you have fans. You inspire people.  You’re never alone.  Being an inspiration and giving people hope is everything.  Anyone in a position of leadership is responsible in bringing people together.  I believe there are a lot of people who have a fan base and aren’t thankful whatsoever.  I’d like to help anyone who follows me.  We’re in this together.
